Eight months after completing his NYSC, Osaze still has not found a job. Under immense financial and societal pressures, he eventually snaps—and at the wrong person. Sparks are flying as everyone from the village chief to their neighbors try to prevent disastrous escalation. Will Osaze choose peace before his community uses violence to put him in his place?

About Sunday

Sunday is a writer, poet, an art lover. A student of English and Literature at the University of Benin, and writing has always been a safe space for him to create.

Writing to him is creation; creating a universe where his readers could be easily absorbed. More like a time machine, taking them to and from different points in time.

When he's not writing, you'll find him reading or watching movies; the latter, more likely. You can catch him on Instagram @ i.b.h.a.d_

About Illino

At Illino, we create African stories that empower, educate and entertain everyone who interacts with them. We push the bounds of language, style and cultural norms in our stories, to translate the multidimensional, multicultural and multigenerational nature of African experiences into stories in English. ‘The Child who Beat his Mother’ is the last of five monthly short story publications which we have commissioned to do exactly this. We invite you to join our journey by subscribing to our mailing list!
